Dentures and Partial Dentures

Patients today often shy away from dentures as a solution to missing teeth because they still recall the image of their grandparents’ false teeth. This outdated image of boxy-looking, too-white teeth is a common misconception. Modern dentures are not only lightweight and easier to fit, but they also look incredibly natural.

Custom Complete (Full) Dentures

Patients missing all of their teeth on the upper or lower arch may benefit from complete dentures to restore their appearance and improve their dietary choices.

Full dentures consist of a pink resin base and artificial teeth. Denture teeth today will match your facial structure, skin tone, age, and gender for natural results. You will have the opportunity to discuss your goals for your smile with Dr. Clark Brinton or Dr. Paul E. Ortiz so that your final dentures add confidence in your appearance.

Immediate Dentures

A valid concern for many patients is going without teeth after the extraction procedure. Immediate dentures ensure that you walk out of our Portland dental office with teeth on the same day of surgery.

We will create your immediate dentures before removing teeth and have them ready right away. Regular adjustments will improve fit over time until you are completely healed and ready for a set of final dentures.

Partial Dentures to Complete Your Smile

If you still have some or most of your natural teeth, partial dentures can complete your smile. Using your existing teeth as anchors, partial dentures clip on with small clasps.

Depending on your needs, we offer partial dentures in several options.

Metal base – durable for patients with a strong bite
Acrylic resin base – for lightweight and natural results
Flexible base – for comfort and appearance

Our dentists will be happy to discuss the option that will work best for you based on your lifestyle and diet.

Implant-Retained Dentures

Some patients want more stability than traditional dentures provide. We offer implant-retained and implant-supported dentures that lock firmly into place. Placing four to six dental implants per arch will provide a locking mechanism to prevent falling and shifting when you laugh, eat, and smile.

Implant dentures add confidence by eliminating concerns about embarrassing denture situations.

Proper Denture Care

We recommend that you bring your partial and complete dentures to each of your dental exams so we can inspect them for cracks, abrasions, and damage. We will periodically recommend an adjustment to keep your denture fitting comfortably.

Use a cleaner designed for dentures and clean them morning and night, as you would clean natural teeth. Store dentures in their case with a splash of water to prevent them from drying out.
