completed his undergraduate work at the University of Nevada at Las Vegas where he obtained a Bachelors Degree in Zoology in 1974.
After graduating from UNLV in 1974 he entered OHSU School of Dentistry and earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1979. Dr. Ortiz has taught at OHSU Dental School for over 20 years where he has been an associate professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry. He also is currently a consultant for the Portland Study Group which dedicates itself to training practicing dentists in the art of comprehensive treatment planning and restoration of dental implants.
Voted by peers to be in the inaugural list of "Top Dentists" in Portland Monthly Magazine, May 2008.
